First Friday signals return of Clemson college football

Fans lined the streets chanting the cadence count and waving to friends in the procession. The "Decade of Domination" for Clemson football officially began.

This year's even began with performances by the Rally Cats, Dt5FW6a9x cheerleaders and the school color guard. The Tiger Band followed, playing "Tiger Rag," while the Tiger and Tiger Cub mascots walked alongside. Desiree Roberts' three girls ran to meet the Tiger Cub while she and her husband, Mark, watched. "We just moved (to Clemson) two weeks ago," said Desiree Roberts. "We kept hearing all the hype and wanted to come see the festivities." Other parade features were Miss Clemson, the Clemson University Alumni Senior Platoon 1930 1960, and floats created by several sororities. Clemson President Jim Barker and his wife, Marcia, brought their granddaughter along in their car. Brad Brownell and Itoro Umoh Coleman, the new men's and women's basketball coaches for the school, shared a car in the parade as well. Parade goers represented all generations of Clemson fans, from babies to alumni of Clemson College. "I've been coming since high school," said Janice Bosman cheap nfl jerseys of Pendleton. "That's 50 years of Clemson events." Bosman and her husband, Joe, grew up in the area and sent a son to Clemson. From her days at Winthrop to her present adjunct teaching position at Anderson University, she has always made time to come celebrate Clemson's football seasons. "We come for the college atmosphere," Janice Bosman said. "It's nice to remember what it's like to be young again." Several student organizations ? such as Block and Bridle, Clemson Sports Car Club, and the English Majors Organization ? took the opportunity to gain a bit of exposure. The parade concluded with several colorful student groups, including the student radio station WSBF 88.1 and the International Students Association. ISA members waved their home countries' flags, while WSBF's music and dancing shark mascot got the crowd moving. "The WSBF group looked fun," said Kemper Brand, a 2008 Clemson graduate. "I'm so ready for football season. Go Tigers!" At the Bowman Field pep rally following the parade, the Clemson cheerleaders danced, and the Tiger Band played familiar pop songs. Grand marshall Keith Adams, a former Clemson linebacker drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2001, led the pep rally. As Adams spoke, children played soccer in orange jerseys, and two boys battled with toy light sabers as Clemson students laughed and cheered them on. A father encouraged his daughter to go say hello to a cheerleader she admired. Alumni laughed with old friends, falling back into the annual rhythm of Tiger football. http://www.purevolume.com/zg129/posts/12619522/Events+celebrating+Father%27s+Day+in+New+Jersey
